When it comes to one of the most famous bands in music history, only a few would come close to that of The Beatles. With the Fab Four, John, Paul, George, and Ringo, the world would be changed forever.

Yet, at 82 years in age, Sir Richard Starkey MBE, known professionally as Ringo Starr, isn’t slowing down anytime soon, as he said during a sit down with press yesterday.. “We’ve rehearsed and we’re getting ready to go on the road again. We just said ‘we’re going on tour’. Last year, was a bit awkward cause the first tour went down, the second tour went down, but we have great confidence that we’re going to do all the gigs.”

When asked about all the tour dates coming up, with the Spring tour, the added dates, and then the fall tour as well, and how can he still keep up with a grueling schedule, Ringo simply stated “Well, I don’t know about the other band (members), they should talk about that but it’s not grueling. Playing has never been grueling, I love to play, I love to play with these guys; they are the best band in this room but I love it, it’s not tiring. No one wants to tour, but you gotta tour to play. I’d rather play every night than have a day off to get to the next venue.”

“I go to the gym most mornings, and I get ready” said Starr when asked about his daily schedule on the road. “You know, Dave Hardy, who put the tour together, he gave us like, too many days off. So I complained. So he’s filled in some of them now. If I’m on the road, I wanna play. You know, I don’t want to sit in a hotel and relax for three days. I want to get out there and play. It’s just who I am, I love to play. I mean, with this (All Starr) Band, it’s great because everybody takes the weight. But you know, if like Paul (McCarthy), he’s like The Man, so he has to have time off to get himself back together. But this ‘crowd’, we could play every night.”

However, there is one thing that not a lot people know about Starr, is that he is also an photographer, having documented his life in photographs from the early days until now. "I'd have seven chapters before I even got to 'those years' which is really all they want to know about” he says, referring to his 2015 photo book titled Photograph, which documents his early life up to the days with the Beatles that he took with a Pentax camera that he bought for the band’s first US tour. He also owned an Olympus growing up and would use as well.

Once thought that the images were lost, Starr stated that he never wanted to write an autobiography, but rather allow the photos to do the story telling for him. He is still photographing his world and as promised continues to tell his own story using songs, photos and art. Each book - the most recent being LIFTED and before that the 30 years of the All Starrs - tells another part of it. As does each EP and also his own social media feed which often features photos he took of things he finds interesting.

You can catch Ringo, with his iPhone and Nikon camera (the Nikon is used for his more “vintage style” of photography) , and the rest of the All Starr Band out on tour this year.
